"Breathe" Immersion with Nicki and Helen from Yoga at the Space

with Nicki Brown and Helen McCabe

Sunday 5th October 2025

A one day in-depth immersion exploring the importance of our breath, how we breath and techniques and practices to support our health and wellbeing.

If you would like to explore ways to breathe with ease and are curious about how harnessing the power of our breath can be a vital key for unlocking our optimal potential for our health, we’d love you to join us for the first of our ‘Breathe’ immersion days.

Included in the day, which will take place here at the Space in Studland, will be a nutritious vegetarian lunch supplied by ‘Love Cake’

How well do you breathe?

Our breath is our life force and, thankfully, we breathe without having to thinking about it - it is how we stay alive. The way that we breathe, however, can make a huge difference to how we feel.

Are you a yoga practitioner interested in understanding more about how different pranayama practices work and how to optimise your breathing mechanics to support your practice? Or do you regularly feel overwhelmed and stressed and would like to have the tools to help you deal with life’s everyday stresses? Would you like to improve your functional breathing ability to support better sleep, or simply want to breathe and move better? This immersion will explore all of these things, from how we can support our nervous system regulation through simple effective practices, to the bio-mechanics of how we breathe and understanding how and why different practices work.

We will take an in-depth look at our breath, including the importance of these practices for women at different stages of life.

  • The bio-mechanics of breathing, including understanding the role of that different parts of our body plays - diaphragm, pelvic floor, rib cage, tongue

  • How simple movement and somatic practices can support good functional breathing mechanics

  • The bio-chemistry of breathing and how different practices and techniques work.

  • The effect of different breath awareness and pranayama practices effect our nervous system

  • The intersection and differences between pranayama, breath awareness and other breathing practices.

  • The importance of our vagus nerve in our nervous system regulation and how breathing can support this
